Shuangjiang, Yunnan: Talent Drives Tea Industry, Comprehensive Output Value Exceeds 10.4 Billion Yuan
Shuangjiang Lahu, Va, Blang and Dai Autonomous County in Lincang City, Yunnan Province, based on its tea industry resource endowment, has set its sights on a 10-billion-yuan tea industry goal and regards talent as the 'primary resource' driving high-quality development of the tea industry. Through platform-based talent gathering, mechanism-based talent utilization, and industry-based talent cultivation, it has promoted the transformation of talent 'flow' into 'retention', and embarked on a new path of integrated development of 'revitalizing tea through talent and gathering talent through tea'. In 2025, the comprehensive output value of Shuangjiang County's tea industry exceeded 10.4 billion yuan, with remarkable results driven by talent.[1]
Shuangjiang County has built a talent platform matrix covering the entire chain of 'industry, academia, research and inspection'. In 2023, it established the Three-Tea Coordination Research Institute, appointed Xu Yahe, the resident vice president of Yunnan Tea Circulation Association, as the executive director, and cooperated with the Tea Research Institute of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to establish the 'China Mengku Large-Leaf Tea Research Center', flexibly introducing 11 well-known provincial experts. In 2025, Shuangjiang built the province's first county-level tea testing, recommendation and traceability center, hired 17 tea evaluation experts, implemented the 'one product, one code, one file' traceability system, and has accepted more than 31,000 tea samples. At the same time, the e-commerce association has grown from more than 20 people to more than 220 people, and the 'e-commerce live broadcast reporting system' it launched allows expert review data to be directly transmitted to live broadcast rooms.[1]
Shuangjiang County cultivates and makes good use of local talents through mechanism innovation. It launched the 'Thousand-Person Training Plan', cumulatively cultivating more than 1,000 tea technical talents of various types and training 67,500 rural laborers. It implemented the 'three-linkage model' of village party organizations, live broadcast teams, and cooperatives linking farmers, forming a tiered mentoring pattern of experts leading key members and key members leading tea farmers. The 'Bingdao Cup' skills competition has built a stage for 'local experts' in the fields. At present, the county has established five types of talent information databases, including e-commerce live broadcast and tea industry elites, with 237 talents included. Bangmu Village's 12,000 mu of rattan tea gardens have achieved unified management and online sales. In 2025, live broadcast sales of tea exceeded 400,000 orders, with sales exceeding 18 million yuan, and the per capita annual income of tea farmers increased from less than 4,000 yuan to 18,000 yuan.[1]
