China Tea Market statistics show that in September 2026, Dafo Longjing trading volume was 1,471,479 kilograms, a decrease of 3.54% from 1,525,536 kilograms in the same period last year; trading value was CNY 373.9911 million, an increase of 11.12% from CNY 336.5790 million in the same period last year; and the average trading price was CNY 254.16 per kilogram, up 15.2% from CNY 220.63 per kilogram in the same period last year. The price index for the month was 64.0. The decline in trading volume together with the simultaneous rise in trading value and average price constituted the most direct change in the Dafo Longjing market in September.[1]

According to the explanation provided by China Tea Market, the weather in September was suitable, tea trees grew well, and tea leaves were of good quality. At the same time, surrounding production areas implemented national land policies and restored some tea gardens to cultivated land for grain crops, reducing tea garden area and leading to lower tea supply. A larger number of tea merchants and consumers coming to the market to purchase tea was also considered to have pushed prices higher. These factors together point to a phased characteristic: supply-side contraction and active purchasing occurred at the same time, and prices moved upward accordingly.[1]

Extending the timeframe to the first three quarters, China Tea Market recorded a total Dafo Longjing trading volume of 12,071 tons, a decrease of 1.30% from 12,230 tons in the same period last year, and total trading value of CNY 5.159 billion, a decrease of 2.97% from CNY 5.317 billion in the same period last year. The decline in cumulative trading volume was smaller than the decline in the single month of September, while cumulative trading value remained slightly below the level of the same period last year, indicating that September's lower volume and higher prices had not yet changed the pattern of weak cumulative transactions for the year. For those following the market for premium green tea in autumn and winter, the September data are more like a signal requiring continued observation: whether the single-month price strength can continue depends on whether the extent of subsequent supply contraction and the enthusiasm of purchasing at the market can both be maintained.[1]

The above index was jointly compiled by the China Tea Marketing Association, the Xinchang People's Government, and China Tea Market. September's trading volume, trading value, average price, and price index are all based on the statistical criteria of China Tea Market. The impact of tea garden adjustments in surrounding production areas and purchasing activity on prices is part of China Tea Market's explanation of that month's market conditions.[1]
