National Science and Technology Mission Team Visits Sanjiang Tea Gardens for On-Site Winter Management Technical Services
The tea industry group of the National Science and Technology Mission Team and the Guangxi Science and Technology Mission Team’s Sanjiang Team recently went to tea garden bases in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County to carry out on-site technical services for winter management and care. The team’s tea industry group consists of experts from the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Guangxi Tea Research Institute, together with science and technology commissioners from Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County. This service is directed toward improving the quality and efficiency of Sanjiang’s tea industry and strengthening the industrial foundation for rural revitalization.[1]
At Buyang Tea Garden in Bajiang Town, the mission team inspected tea tree growth and the occurrence of pests and diseases on site, and conducted on-site teaching and guidance on winter tea garden management and care. Experts explained and demonstrated key technical points on site, including the essentials of winter pruning of tea trees, scientific application of base fertilizer, winter clearing of tea gardens, and green prevention and control of pests and diseases. They guided tea farmers to adhere to prevention as the priority and implement the concept of green prevention and control, so as to reduce the risk of pests and diseases in the following year at the source.[1]
At the Baxie Black Tea Base in Dudong Town, the expert group put forward technical opinions on soil improvement and enhancing soil fertility. They recommended measures such as increasing the application of organic fertilizer, carrying out rational deep tillage, and interplanting green manure to raise soil organic matter content, improve the soil ecology of tea gardens, create a favorable environment for tea root growth, and thereby increase the yield and quality of tea in the following year.[1]
The tea industry is a distinctive pillar industry in Sanjiang County that enriches the people. Doing a good job of winter management and care is regarded as the first key step in safeguarding a bumper spring tea harvest in the following year. The science and technology mission team regularly goes down to bases to provide technical services in areas including high-quality tea garden development, soil improvement, green management and care, and quality enhancement, supporting the high-quality development of Sanjiang’s tea industry through science and technology.[1]
